GERMANY-US-AUTO-LABOUR-CUTS-GM-OPEL
Employees of troubled German car maker Opel hold a flag of the powerful IG Metall union in front of their company-s plant in Bochum, 16 October 2004. Production was halted at the factory in protest at plans by the group-s US parent, General Motors, to axe 12,000 jobs in Europe, with 10,000 jobs facing the chop in Germany alone.
