Aribert Guenther, member of the worker-s council of Opel, addresses employees of the troubled car maker at Opel-s plant in Bochum, 16 October 2004. Production was halted at the factory in protest at plans by the group-s US parent, General Motors, to axe 12,000 jobs in Europe, with 10,000 jobs facing the chop in Germany alone.
